Rosh Hashanah

Friday was 911 and Rosh Hashanah was yesterday. The two have little in common other than both can be seen as a warning of something big that is about to happen. When the twin towers came falling down, many of our national ways began to change and we began preparing for what might come next (as we should). Rosh Hashanah is also a warning, but this warning comes from God, and it is a warning to all people everywhere. Rosh Hashanah is also called “Feast of Trumpets”. This yearly Feast has been practiced in Israel for over 4,000 years and it points to Israel’s most holy day – Yom Kippur – The day of atonement. For over 4,000 years God allowed the blood of animals to cover or atone for the sins of man. On that final day of atonement, nothing but the blood of Jesus, the Messiah will atone for any sin. Thus, those trumpets will be sounds of a warning telling people to get ready. There is a judgement coming – Accept Christ now or tomorrow it may be too late. This warning goes out to Israel and all mankind and points forward to a Great White throne Judgement. Will your name be written in “The Lamb’s Book of Life”?
