Sermon on the Mount Part 4

From the Pastor’s Desk

We have been studying Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. He began by telling them the heart condition of those people who will be in the Kingdom of Heaven. Then He said, that those people will be the Salt and Light of the earth. Then, He began talking about the Law. Unlike the Scribes and the Pharisees who simply told the people to “obey” the Law, Jesus told the multitudes the true meaning and purpose of the Law. In doing so, Jesus took the Law into a “heart condition”. Even those who thought they were keeping the “letter of the Law”, still had a sinful heart. Even murder and adultery begin in the heart. Thus, Jesus taught that no man could ever keep the Law. At this point, His listeners were most likely saying to themselves: “Then how can we enter into the Kingdom of Heaven”? So, knowing their thoughts, Jesus summed up His sermon by saying that they needed to “know Him”. There needs to be a relationship with Him and only through that relationship can anyone enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Only when we are “in Him” and “He is in us” does anyone meet GOD not finished with me yet. Philippians 1:6 the qualifications of entry into the Kingdom of Heaven. When all of our trust and faith is in Him, He will complete the good work that He started in us.
