Last week we looked at 7 doctrines of salvation: Forgiveness, justification, reconciliation, redemption, sanctification, newness of life and finally adoption as sons of the living God. All 7 are the work of God. “For by grace you have been saved THROUGH FAITH, it is a gift from God, not of works lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8). All these happen instantly the moment we believe and ask God to come into our life. But, what is next? Now that we are “saved” what are we saved for? What does God want us, who have received such a gift, want us to do? The last thing that Jesus said to His disciples as He was taken by a cloud into Heaven was, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Notice that this instruction was given to all of His disciples – Not just those who might change their job titles and become pastors or evangelists. Everyone who is a child of God, everyone who has received His most precious gift of salvation is called to share that salvation with others. Therefore, GO!
