From the Pastor’s Desk
The concept of Rest is as old as creation itself. For on the 7th day God rested. Because Adam was created on day 6, we can only assume that when his Creator rested, so did he. God and man were in complete harmony but then sin, through disobedience entered. Man found himself naked and afraid. The God with whom he once walked, cursed the very “ground” causing man to “toil and to sweat”. Man, now had to “work” just to eat. Although it was God’s desire to let man understand the reprocussion of sin, it has never been God’s plan to leave man eternally in that state. So, God allowed man one day per week to “Rest” – One day to be free of the curse. For 4,000-years man kept the 7th day as holy and as that day of Rest. God even made it a law! Then came the Messiah who “fulfilled the law” and the dispute amongst men began – Do we follow the law or do we follow the new teaching which leads to eternal life? The answer is “keep both”. Today we will see how God has placed in Him, His Son, Rest for Your Souls
both salvation and “Rest”.
