Approximately every two years I find the necessity to speak on the attributes that God desires to see in His believers. He has listed them for us in Galatians 5:22 and today we will begin with that scripture. God calls these attributes “the Fruits of the Spirit”. These fruits are not something that we can conjure up on our own but rather, can be developed in us as we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit who indwells every true believer. This list of nine fruits which grow out of our relationship with Christ, begins with “LOVE”. Thus, as we begin our new series, we will focus on what has been called “the Crown Jewel” – LOVE. Everything written, everything prophesized (even judgement) has its foundation in the love of God. This love that God has for His creation runs through scripture like a velvet chain. It was love in the Garden and it will be love that will see mankind united with Christ in the end of all things. Guess what? – God wants us to share this same love that He has shown to us with others. Today, we will look at true love, the love of God and how we might apply it, not only to ourselves but to those around us.
