From the Pastor’s Desk
Beginning today, we celebrate Jesus riding into Jerusalem. As He, entered, the people ushered Him in by laying boughs of leafy trees and palm branches before His path. They shouted “Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD”. They were recognizing Him as their promised Messiah. However, the date was “Nisan 10”. On that day every year, the people were instructed to select a lamb from their flocks that would be sacrificed at Passover on the 14th day of Nisan (4 days later). Little did they know that the very Man who they were hailing as their Messiah would also die on a Roman cross as God’s “Passover Lamb”. He would die at twilight and be placed in a tomb before the Sabbath of the “Feast of Unleavened Bread” which followed the Feast of Passover. There He would remain for 3 days and 3 nights but on the 3rd day He would rise from the dead. We, the church, call this 3rd day Easter Sunday. We the church call this week, Passion Week. Today’s message will cover the events of that week as we remember how Jesus
willingly rode into Jerusalem – Died for our sins – Arose from the grave – Giving us eternal life.
