Unfortunately, people get most of their Christmas doctrine from Christmas cards. True, the Christ was born in a place meant for animals. The three wisemen presenting gifts while shepherds watch on, is a myth, not scripture. There was no little drummer boy nor choirs of angels singing. Even so, this inaccuracy does not erase the miraculous event of that night.
God became Man – “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us”. His name was Jesus, which translates as “Savior” but His title was Emmanuel or “God with us”. Shepherds did come and angels praised God, however, the wise men did not show up until Mary and Joseph were established in a “house”. Jesus was not born in a manger, He was born in a place where animals are kept and a manger is a feeding trough for animals, this was baby Jesus’ crib. Also, this birth is the way that God wanted it! This earth and the people in it did not need another “Royal”, it needed humility and love. Jesus was that bundle of love that was born as the Servant of all mankind. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” – To US!
