What does it mean to be baptized? – Why do we get baptized? And, who should be baptized? These three questions will be answered today. First, baptism is a public statement of faith in the presence of friends/family stating that you have chosen to follow Christ and He has saved you from the consequences of your sin. However, baptism is not salvation. Secondly, the reason we should get baptized is because Jesus commanded all believers to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. In fact, this was Jesus’ final command to His followers as he ascended into Heaven. Finally, to answer the question of who should be baptized, I first need to ask another question: Are you saved? And, have you given your life to Jesus Christ? If yes, then refer to question number two and get baptized, because Jesus clearly told every believer to be baptized. It should be noted every believer in the New Testament was baptized (with the exception of the thief on the cross). With this in mind join us this morning as we totally immerse into the water those who have chosen to witness their faith publicly in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
