About Light in The Desert First Southern Baptist Church

We are the Light in the Desert First Southern Baptist Church of Yucca, AZ.

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God, the all sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine and Christian living. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Light in the Desert First Southern Baptist Church would love to have you stop by and join us in worshipping the Lord.  This is where travelers and locals know they are welcome and can all come together for worship and fellowship.

Our Mission is to spread the messge that we are all separated from God because of our sin. The result of this sin is the death penalty, an ever-present guilt, and a certain fear of eternal separation from God. Yet, because God loved us, in spite of our sin, He sent His own Son Jesus to die in our place, to conquer sin and death in order to bridge the gap between God and man.

The gift of Christ’s sacrifice opens the door to all who are willing to get to know him, accept this gift,  and follow him.

Beliefs held by our church

  1. We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the all sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine and Christian living. (2 Timothy 3:16)
  2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19) (John 1:1)
  3. We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, the He is true God and true man, and that he died on the cross for our sins. (Luke 1:34)
  4. We believe that Jesus rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heave where He sits at the right hand of the Father and is now our High Priest and advocate. (John 2:19)
  5. We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost. Only thorough regeneration by work of the Holy Spirit can man’s salvation and spiritual life be obtained. (Genesis 5:3) (Genesis 1:27)
  6. We believe that eternal salvation in the free gift from God, entirely apart from man’s works, and is possessed by any and all who have faith in and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. (Ephesians 2:8) (Galatians 3:1-9)
  7. We believe that baptism is by immersion and the Lord’s supper is a memorial to suffering and death on a cross. These are ordinances to be observed by the church in its present age. They are not to be regarded as a means for man’s salvation. (Acts 8:38) (1 Corinthians 11:17-34)
  8. We believe in the personal, bodily, imminent, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that He will come first for His Church which inspires believers for a dynamic and zealous life of service for Him while waiting for His return. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
  9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in heaven, and the everlasting punishment and separation of God of the unsaved in hell. (Daniel 12:1-3) (Revelation 20:11-12) (1 Corinthians 15:29-58) (John 14:2)
  10. We believe in the autonomy of the local church. The church shall manage it own affairs and shall not be subject to any other religious body or organization.
